Do I need a doctor's order or a prescription for physical therapy in Illinois?
No. As of August 16, 2018, the Illinois Physical Therapy Act allows you to see a licensed physical therapist for evaluation and treatment, without a referral or a prescription from a physician. However, your insurance provider may require a prescription. Medicare requires a signed plan of care and a prescription from a physician. Please call our office for additional details 847-247-7200.
Does insurance cover physical therapy?

What can I expect on my first visit to Praxis?
You should arrive approximately 15 minutes before your appointment to complete the necessary paperwork. The initial evaluation and subsequent physical therapy will take an hour; follow-up visits are typically 30 minutes, but the time of sessions will be determined by your physical therapist when he or she schedules your follow-up appointment.
What should I bring to my initial visit?
You should bring comfortable workout clothes, including shoes and socks, the prescription from your physician if you have one, your insurance card, and a photo ID.
What is the difference between physical therapy and a physiotherapist?
